Gratitude Journal - 29th October to 2nd November 2018

What an interesting trip outstation over the past three days, to say the least!

After some letdowns by so-called friends(which I let swish by like water over a duck's back these days - their loss, not mine!), I stayed at a capsule hotel near the centre of the city for a 23% and  29% discount respectively on Day One & Day Two!

What a synchronistic piece of good fortune when I discovered this five-month old establishment while looking for a substitute for a backpackers' hostel which I used to frequent but whose cocky staff were getting too big for their britches AND whose charges had gone up 15% while standards deteriorated significantly!

In other words, I had saved almost a THIRD on this new place, although the latter is getting to be a little bit more like the former with the ickiness( eg dirt-stained toilets) that naturally comes from growing popularity! Nonetheless, I am truly grateful for the two slices of bread(one with jam, the other with butter) that they allowed guests to fill my tummy for the several hours between my checking out & travelling up the mountain to a resort/casino for an eleventh FREE(comped) night's stay there! =)

Meanwhile I achieved one major target magnificently(attended a listed co's FIRST shareholders' meeting) while missing one minor target(spending a voucher which was expiring on the day I arrived - there was too little time!)

The meeting was held in a far location which was hard to get to except by car & since Grab was not an option without a handphone, I settled for my usual MO which was to take the MRT to the nearest station & cross a road across from it to hail a taxi!

As many as twenty-five taxis passed without stopping and I even crossed the road to hail in the opposite direction, only to be told it was too far to travel before the 180 degree turn!

Finally, an hour and fifteen minutes passed before an old driver happened to pass by with an empty car. But my patience(visualisation!) paid off & the meter only showed 7.25 when I arrived ; I paid eight happily out of gratitude & hopefully made another person's day!

Then during the meeting, I chanced upon someone whom I would not have asked for favours but serendipity was such that I chatted him up at my previous attended meeting after kind of pretending not to notice him during another meeting in June( so fickle are we humans!). I noticed that he was requesting a copy of the annual report which had run out and which I very fortunately had secured despite arriving later than him, and immediately offered him my copy, hoping he would offer me a lift of that forsaken location...and he took my bait! =) It only got better( & a little stranger!) once I travelled up by bus & cable car to my holiday destination, a world famous destination for cool weather seeks and casino enthusiasts alike!

As I walked around the machines observing human behaviour avidly, I came upon a machine which had almost thirteen hundred bucks inside with no player's card in the slot!

Thinking that if I didn't practice 'finders keepers' first, either the casino or another player would get the money.

However, I didn't feel too great helping myself to the 'gift', but still walked over to three other machines to play with the windfall, something I would not have done at that denomination with my own precious bankroll!

At the third machine, I was approached by staff & told to follow them. Knowing now what I had already guessed - that it was too large an amount to go unnoticed by the system - I was informed of the exact amount that wasn't mine. Without a whit of protest & keeping a  poker face, I complied swiftly and went to the cashier to cash out the rounded down figure ( they graciously let me keep sixty cents!)

However, the dominant emotion I felt was relief that I got from the guilt I felt and also that I had played up to a point when I had an extra six or seven bucks from 'free' play with the casino's money! It could have been demoralising if they had approached me when I was at one point down over a hundred on my own capital!

I went to bed that night relatively satisfied that I was up over forty bucks on my initial amount & shrugged off the lost opportunity of a nearly riskless windfall, and felt a quiet surprise at the relatively unimportance of the absolute amount of money to the new me!

In spite of this, I felt an inner urge to wake early to prowl the casino floors again after most of the diehards had left.

And so, I awoke in the dark groggily to read the time on my camera: 4:49 am. Slowly I put on a clean T-shirt and the previous night's pants & made my way through nearly empty corridors to the casino.

I was just about to leave when, deciding on a final swing on the way to the exit, one of those tall high-tech machines near a dead end corner caught my eye. I looked closely & saw a few thousand credits still inside with no players' card!

Was about to transfer the abandoned cash into my card but the first attempt failed, so, in order to avoid a repeat of the previous day's proceedings, I played quite a few spins at higher denominations to at least enjoy some 'free' play liberally, something I would never have done with my own cash!

It went up by a thousand credits or so, providing some nice effects along the way, before the house edge started biting & whittling the amount down by four thousand credits.

I was about to approach an attendant walking ahead of me when my intuition stopped me, and I decided to see if a cardless handpay would escape detection.

Crossing my fingers but prepared for the worst, I cashed out & alerted another attendant to pay me. He was puzzled how I was able to play with no card inserted but prepared a chit with the amount left. I kept my emotions bottled up right until I signed the chit at the cashier, promptly swept up the notes into my wallet & walked out of the place!

When the Universe wishes to  manifest abundance to me, not even an organisation as powerful as this can stop it!!! =)

My highest gratitude to serendipity and the field of existence as well as my intuition & spirit guides for this most welcome continuation of abundance in my Life!
