Gratitude Journal - 9 to 12 October 2018

Whew! I'm so glad to be back from a two day stay in a 'haunted' house that my ex-friend inherited from his dead parents almost a decade ago.

It was dark and foreboding from the front when I first entered this 48-year-old house on Wednesday, and sure enough, there was a not-too-overpowering smell that was a mixture of old dust and unwashed clothes or bodies.

I was offered a thin (but thankfully clean!) mattress on the floor to sleep on, which the sole occupant had probably slept on more times than I cared to think about!

Yesterday, he said that his mother died in one of the downstairs rooms!

Cutting a long story short, because of my new resolve to not spend needless energy on negativity, I was asked to leave early in the morning, just about when I knew for certain that this newly axed friend was a confirmed nutter!

 After playing for time so that I could catch the earliest train to a meeting, I left, grateful to never return to this despondent, dark and sinister house ever again...even the number was unlucky: 64! Who knows, even if I had wanted( or was allowed) to stay another night, I might have run the risk of being stuck with a metal instrument!

{Sixty four also happened to be the number of bucks I saved on two days' worth of  accomodation in KL, usually in a cheap capsule hotel or backpackers' lodge PLUS the amount this ex-friend had to fork out to top up a pair soon expiring vouchers to treat ourselves to a buffet lunch @ Swiss Garden Hotel, so I'm grateful for that! =) }

Also, I am extremely grateful to have found a total of $81.91 from my latest trip to Genting($76.76 from one machine alone!) and despite the fogginess due to nearly incessant rain on the mountain, I really loved the wandering, exploring and dining(dinner for free on 9th Oct, and the cheapest French food on the planet on the 10th - see pic!)

Please go & try Cafés Richard if you haven't done so already! A piece of Parisian life without ever having to board a plane!
