Themes in Wild Robot
After watching that movie using a gratis ticket for PPB shareholders, I reflected on the themes of alienation: being deemed to be different & a threat primarily because of physical appearance & being reflexively treated with hostility. The animals on the island, which in my viewpoint represented Earth's people, ignored the robot's good intentions until they were saved from a wintry demise by its kindness, which gradually became a 'survival tactic' to safeguard many of their lives rather than hostility & suspicion.
Being supported in one's quest to 'fly' in life was a constant metaphor, as was going from head to heart in one's actions. The theme of the attitude of not giving up as well as the will to do what was right were also consistent throughout. An enjoyable & touching flick!
Forgiveness & love were also concomitant themes as BrightBill had to forgive Roz for the demise of his 'real' family while he was still in the egg, and later found the courage to say that he loved her.
